Brian became a Certified Family Financial Mediator in 2013 and solely dedicates his profession to helping families separate through alternative dispute resolution, mainly through family mediation without either party being represented by legal counsel during the mediation.  “I love helping people, as a mediator, I help at least two individuals or an entire family start over. There are many things to consider when separating, some legal, some emotional, always financial and you need someone who is experienced to help navigate you through this difficult time. It brings me great satisfaction that I help folks through a difficult time, and I try and make it as painless as possible.”

Mediating when the parties are not represented by counsel does not mean they do not have access to legal advice. The final document is drafted by an attorney and both parties have ample time to reflect on their decisions in mediation and to have those reviewed by an attorney. “My clients are never rushed or pressured, I will not allow it.” Brian says adamantly.     

To be a good mediator, you must have compassion and be a good listener. Since 2006, Brian has dedicated himself to serving his clients with compassion. That is reflected in his 24-hour return contact policy that he strictly maintains today and the $99 initial consultation that dates to 2006 when The Law Corner was first established.  “It’s something you have or don’t have. I have always had it, back to the days when I was working in the social work services industry between 1990 and 1998. When I changed industries, it was second nature.” Brian takes pride in helping people. It will be his legacy.
